Wild At Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul by John Eldredge: Adult Nonfiction

Although I am not a man, Wild At Heart: Discovering the Secret of a Man’s Soul by John Eldredge seems quite insightful.  Also useful are the side comments to women who are reading the book, too.  This book is time well spent.
Nutshell:  Boiled down to its essence: every man needs a battle to fight, an adventure to live, and a beauty to rescue.  Men don’t have to act tough or hide from themselves; there is another way.

  1. I read this book during a troubled time in my marriage, and though I won't say this book saved my marriage it did go a long way to helping me understand my husband. I think every man who is struggling with connection or emotion should read this, and frankly every single woman on the planet should read it in order to understand men a bit better. There is more to a man than most of us give them credit for!

  2. I've read this one too. John's books seem pretty much the same, but Wild at Heart seems to be the classic among mainstream Christian inspiration for guys. There are some interesting points that Elderedge makes, but on the whole a lot feels cut and paste from other books. I like his general headings, but I would like more simplicity in the explanation.

    1. Hmmm, I haven’t read any of his other books. The Way of the Wild Heart is on my reading list; I wonder if he goes into further detail in that one, or if it’s just repetition. I guess when I find out, I’ll post it! Thanks for your input!
